Robbery suspects remain jailed

COVINGTON -- Three men remain in the Newton County jail after allegedly robbing a man that one of them met on a social network last month.

The victim met a man on the social networking site Tagged and made plans to meet with him at a residence on Mountainview Drive in early May. As the victim arrived, he was approached by three men, one brandishing a gun, who demanded his money and ordered him to exit his vehicle. The victim gave the men an undisclosed amount of money, and once he got out of the vehicle, ran away, unhurt. The three suspects took off in the victim's Acura sedan.

Investigators were able to identify the men through the social network site and they were arrested early the next morning. Arrested were Gabriel Deangelo Toney, 19, address listed as P.O. Box 2021, Covington; Joshua Lamar Dickerson, 19, of 235 Mountainview Drive, Covington; and Paul Frazier Allen, 22, of 2000 Schilling Ave., Albany.

Two of the men -- Toney and Allen -- recently attended a bond hearing before Newton County Superior Court Judge Eugene Benton on charges of armed robbery, hijacking a motor vehicle, possession of a firearm or knife while trying to commit crimes and aggravated assault.

Allen's bond was denied because he was determined to be a risk to commit another felony and as a danger to the community.

Toney's bond was set at $150,000, but he remained in the Newton County jail as of press time Wednesday. He also was ordered to have no contact with the codefendant or victim, and he was banished from Newton County except for court and attorney communications.

Dickerson also remains jailed.
