Gibson, Earle lead Berkeley Lake

Cameron Gibson and Spencer Earle continue to lead the Berkeley Lake Tides of the Sunbelt League. Gibson, a Salem graduate and rising junior at Chipola Junior College (Marianna, Fla.) was second on the team in hitting at .383 (18-for-47) after a three-hit day against the OTC Bearcats July 19. Gibson also leads the Tides with nine stolen bases.

Earle, a Covington native and rising junior at Anderson University (Anderson, South Carolina), leads all Tides pitchers with three wins and a 1.74 ERA (just six earned runs in a team-high 31 innings pitched).

The right-handed Earle recently tossed 6 2/3 innings of one-run ball and worked around seven walks to pick up a win over the Douglasville Bulls. In his 31 innings, Earle has allowed just 22 hits while picking up 30 strike outs.

Berkeley Lake (10-14) played the Windward Braves Saturday in a game that ended too late for this edition.
