COVINGTON — Parents of students new to the school district or those who moved within the district over the summer can register their children in the Newton County School System next week.
NCSS will hold its student registration from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday, July 22 through Friday, July 26 at each individual school.
Parents or guardians are the only ones who can register children, and they need to show their own photo identification at the time of registration.
Parents also must provide their child’s social security card. If no card is available, a waiver may be signed at the time of registration.
They also must provide their child’s birth certificate and immunization record form #3231; students entering a Georgia public school for the first time or reentering a Georgia school after being gone for an entire school year also must provide a Georgia Certificate of Eye, Ear and Dental Examination form. Medical forms may be obtained from the children’s physician or health department.
In addition, parents must provide two proofs of residence — a utility bill with their name and address and a current lease agreement or mortgage statement.
Should the child not live with one or both parents, guardianship or custody documents will be required.
Additionally, parents must provide the child’s most recent report card, withdrawal form, test score result form and special education records, if applicable. If they are in seventh through 12th grades, they also must provide the most recent discipline report.
They also must provide an 11-page student registration packet.
Registration information, including an English and Spanish packet, is available on the NCSS website, www.newtoncountyschools.org.
