Covington woman charged in assault of waitress

CONYERS -- A Covington woman was charged with aggravated assault after she allegedly attacked a waitress at Cozumel restaurant at 425 Sigman Road.

Conyers Police were called to the restaurant at about 8 p.m. on July 3 where Misty Dawn Alliston, 39, of 60 Providence Drive, Covington, had allegedly gotten drunk and was refusing to leave.

The 37-year-old waitress told police that Alliston had consumed more than half a pitcher of beer and a few margaritas, became loud and began cursing the restaurant manager, according to the incident report.

The waitress said the manager tried to get Alliston to leave, according to the report, but she allegedly attempted to hit him.

The waitress apparently tried to intervene and Alliston allegedly grabbed the waitress by the hair, struck her in the face with a closed fist and dragged her outside the restaurant. Alliston allegedly held the waitress by the hair and slammed her face into a brick column outside the front door of the business and bit her on the right arm.

The waitress said Alliston tried to get into a vehicle to leave, but bystanders stopped her.

Alliston was arrested and taken to the Rockdale County Jail where she was booked on charges of aggravated assault, battery, public drunkenness and simple assault.
