Playoffs for 18-under tournament cancelled

MARIETTA -- Rain forced the cancellation of the remaining games of the World Wood Bat 18-Under National Championship on Thursday.

The round of 24 was set to be played Thursday morning at the East Cobb Baseball Complex and at Kell High School, but a steady rain both Wednesday night and Thursday morning forced tournament directors to postpone the rest of the playoffs, which were originally scheduled to run through Friday afternoon.

The Conyers-based MGBA Braves and Newton rising senior Kenny Glover and Georgia Select 18-Under, which includes rising seniors Drew Buckhault of Eastside and Rockdale's Malachi Eskin, were scheduled to play a round of 24 game at 9 a.m.

TGBA, which includes Heritage's Tyler Holcombe and Newton's Allen Bowen Jr. along with Heritage coach Jason Borcherding, had an 11:30 a.m. round of 24 game canceled as well.
