Salem's Scott earns honors from MLB

CONYERS -- It's already been quite a year on the baseball field for Jordan Scott. The rising junior at Salem has received a number of honors, including a trio given out by Major League Baseball.

Scott was not only named the No. 2 prospect at Perfect Game's Sunshine East Showcase, but was selected to the Under Armour Team One and selected to participate in the MVP Showcase for minority prospects, which is sponsored by MLB.

A 6-0, 190-pound infielder/outfielder, he was chosen for the MLB Breakthrough Series as one of the top 88 minority prospects and was invited by the Washington Nationals to try out for the MLB Area Code Games.

Closer to home, Scott, who during the spring hit .362 with 18 stolen bases and was chosen as a second team all-Region 8-AAAAA member, was also chosen as one of the Georgia Dugout Club's top 100 underclassmen.

"Jordan has improved as much as anyone I've ever coached. He came (to Salem) with a high skill set and has at least doubled that in two years," Salem coach Chad Kitchens said. "I can't wait to see how far he comes in the next two years"

Scott plays his summer baseball with the East Cobb Patriots Blue 17-Under team, which will participate in the World Wood Bat 17-Under National Championship July 5-12.
