Scrapbook: Chi Tau Omega celebrates Emerging Young Leaders

The Chi Tau Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., which serves Newton and Rockdale Counties, recently held a Tea Party and celebration for its Emerging Young Leaders (EYL) to honor the participants of the EYL program and to recognize the eighth grade participants who have graduated. They are pictured here, front row from left, Arielle Pritchett, Logan Weaver, and Jayla Ores, and back row from left, Kennedi Hunter, Micah Shephard, Cierra Sanders and Lauren Williams.

The Emerging Young Leaders program is a leadership and mentoring program for middle school girls designed to ensure academic excellence while helping the students develop life-long skills of advocacy, leadership, and community service. Upon completion of 8th grade, EYL participants graduate from the program, having gained knowledge and skills useful for becoming productive and contributing citizens and have the opportunity to participate in the Ivy Prep program, which is a leadership and mentoring program for girls in high school, sponsored by Chi Tau Omega.
