Heritage takes second at Redskin Rumble

SOCIAL CIRCLE -- Heritage's wrestling team had a good showing with eight wrestlers medaling to finish second in the Redskin Rumble on Saturday.

Social Circle won the 12-team tournament with 166 points with Heritage taking second place with 147.5 points. Alcovy finished in the top half with 106 points to take fifth place with Newton (69) coming in eighth and Salem (55) finishing in 10th place.

Area wrestlers did well, showing up in eight of the 14 championship bouts while winning four of them.

Winning their weight class were Heritage's Marco Harris (113) and R. Walker (195), Salem's Reggis Hurt (120) and Newton's Jose Rivera (138).

Finishing in second place were Alcovy's Jake Hendrix (132) and Austin Richardson (160), Heritage's Stephen Zantinga (145) and Mitch Clemens (152).

In the consolation matches, area wrestlers faced each other three times while winning third place seven times and fourth eight times.

Winning their consolation matches were Heritage's D. Harris (106), Joseph Switay (120), Joe Timmons (132) and D. Foster (220), Newton's Anthony Bradley (170) and Alcovy's Cole Patterson (152) and Michael Thurman (182).

Also wrestling in the consolation matches were Newton's Jarquin Oliver (106) and Matt Torres (145), Alcovy's Sergio Cruz (126), Chris Dubois (138), Parfait Fondeysuf (170) and Dalton Carter (285) and Salem's Matt Lewis-Hardwick (132) and Jeremy Bolz (160).
