COVINGTON -- The deadline for reservations for Monte Carlo for the Arts, a fundraiser for Southern Heartland Arts, is Tuesday, Jan. 29. The event, sponsored by United Bank and Air Conditioning Specialist, Inc., will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, at Georgia Piedmont Technical College, 8100 Bob Williams Drive.
Although open to the public, the event is limited to the first 200 reservations. No invitation is necessary, but reservations must be made in advance.
The social hour and a full course prime rib buffet dinner provided by Stalvey's is followed by a live auction; a reverse raffle called "Last Jack Standing;" a Silent Auction featuring Unique Objects d' Art; and Casino Gaming with play money.
Attendees will team up to purchase a weekend getaway, a champagne brunch, or a full week in a three bedroom, three bath beach home near Carabelle, Fla.
New this year is a game of chance called "Last Jack Standing," and is a reverse raffle to benefit SHA's scholarship fund. You do not have to be present to win.
Casino gaming begins immediately following the raffle, using play money. When play is called, winnings are cashed in for raffle tickets which players deposit with the door prize of their choice. With more than 50 door prizes valued from $50 to $300 available to win, many attendees "pay" for their evening and help a local nonprofit at the same time.
Proceeds go to the nonprofit organization's Instructional Fund and the James P. Hayes Cardinal Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships for graduating seniors, funds for summer art camp programs, ongoing weekly art classes, the annual visual art show at the Newton County Public Library, and other community outreach programs related to the visual arts.
