Conyers CONYERS — The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety has awarded Rockdale County a $30,500 grant for its Driving Under the Influence Court Supervised Treatment Program.
The program, which Rockdale County’s State Court Judge Nancy N. Bills directs, targets offenders with multiple convictions for driving under the influence of alcohol. It also aims to reduce DUI recidivism by addressing the root cause of this particular crime in the repeat offender — a substance abuse disorder.
The program uses a multi-agency, collaborative approach to comprehensively treat, motivate and rehabilitate the participant.
The grant funds will be used for program operations, including supplies and personnel, from October 2012 through September 2013.
For more information about the program, email duicourt@rockdalecounty.org or call 770-278-7720.
