School Crime Report for Feb. 22, 2013

The Newton County Sheriff's Office provides School Resource Officers to each high school and middle school in Newton County. The following is a list of reports filed by these officers that have been received this week by the Newton Citizen:

ALCOVY HIGH SCHOOL

-- The school resource officer at Alcovy High School reported that he broke up a verbal altercation between two female students around 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 14.

NEWTON HIGH SCHOOL

A mother met with the school resource officer in the administration office at Newton High School to report that her adult son had been withdrawn from school by his father without her permission.

INDIAN CREEK MIDDLE SCHOOL

-- The assistant principal at Indian Creek Middle School received information that a student was in possession of suspected marijuana. He told the school resource officer when he searched the student, he discovered that the student was in possession of suspected marijuana and that he had sold some to another student. A juvenile complaint was filed against the student for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

-- In conducting the above investigation, the school resource officer reports that another student was in possession of some of the same marijuana. A juvenile complaint was filed against that student for possession of marijuana.
