CONYERS -- Filming of the Hugh Jackman movie, "Prisoners," will close Flat Shoals Road in Conyers, from Ga. Highway 138 to Parker Road, all day Saturday.
The Conyers Police Department will close the road from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. while filmmakers work to film a scene that will include stunts.
"They are basically doing a scene for the movie that involves a busy intersection on a road where one of the characters is being chased and runs out of the woods into the road," said Gina Hartsell, executive assistant for the Conyers-Rockdale Economic Development Council. "Stunts are involved, so there has to be a proximity that they can totally control."
Production crews have been in the Conyers/Covington area since early this year working on the movie that tells the story of a small-town carpenter, played by Jackman, who kidnaps the person he suspects is behind the disappearance of his young daughter and her best friend.
The movie also stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Melissa Leo and Paul Dano.
In January the production crew transformed the south Rockdale Stanton Woods subdivision into a movie set for the Alcon Entertainment and Warner Bros. project. Filming has also taken place in Stone Mountain and Porterdale, among other locations.
Hartsell said Saturday's filming will mark a short hiatus in filming in the area before crews return later this month.
"They're going to finish out this weekend here and then they are going to another location," she said. "Then they are coming back again the last week of February and the first week of March over in Milstead.
Hartsell said the Conyers-Rockdale community has established a good working relationship with the filmmakers.
"They really love us, and we are happy they are here," she said.
