COVINGTON -- Whether you like your chili hot or mild, you'll find a pallet-pleasing bowl full at the 12th Annual Covington Lions Club Chili Supper on Feb. 28. The dinner will be held from 5-8 p.m. at the Lions Pavilion at Academy Springs Park on Conyers Street.
"Cool nights bring appetites for comfort food. Our Chili Supper is the perfect meal -- and an added bonus of fellowship makes for a perfect evening," said Doreen Stallworth, one of the event's organizers.
The event is one of only three fundraisers the club does during the year. All proceeds go to sight and hearing charities.
Each Lions Club member brings two gallons of homemade chili, two gallons of iced tea and a dessert for the all-you-can-eat event, which is a popular local occasion.
There will be hot dogs for children and the desserts will be available for a donation.
Tickets can be purchased in advance from any Lions member or you can pay at the door. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children 6 and under.
"Lions set up, serve and work this event from 1-9 p.m. It is hard work and yet it is a volunteer effort of their time and dedication to their motto, 'We Serve,' so we ask that you please help us," Stallworth said.
