ATLANTA -- Eastside's swim team competed in three events in the state finals at Georgia Tech on Saturday.
The 200 medley relay, consisting of Jack Mitchell, Robbie Ellwanger, Joey Ellwanger and Samuel Stewart, finished ninth overall in a time of 1 minute, 42.48 seconds.
In the 400 freestyle relay, starting with Joey Ellwanger followed by Stewart, Robbie Ellwanger and Mitchell, they came in 15th overall with a time of 3:25.39.
In individual events, Mitchell took the final spot in the 100-butterfly stroke, coming in 16th place in 56.04 seconds.
The Eastside boys finished in 31st place as a team with 23 points. Dalton won the overall team championship scoring 192 points.
Apalachee nips Heritage 76-75 in overtime
CONYERS -- Jermaine Smith made two free throws with 9.2 seconds left for a 76-75 lead that held until the finish as visiting Apalachee defeated Heritage 76-75 Friday night. Smith had 14 points.
The Wildcats (16-7, 9-7), who host the region tourney next week, got 24 points and 11 rebounds from Cameron Blakley, who fouled out with 3:48 left. Kamar Baldwin (14 points) and Rakim Peters (10 points) also had good games for Apalachee.
