Missing Newton County man found safe

COVINGTON -- The Newton County Sheriff's Office had issued a statewide Mattie's Call for a missing 19-year-old hearing- and mentally-impaired man Tuesday, but called it off shortly after 7 p.m.

According to Public Information Officer Deputy Cortney Morrison, Taurus Mitchell has been located and returned home safe and sound. Mitchell had been missing since Sunday. His mother reported him missing Monday to the NCSO, Morrison said.
