Local golfer Ayanna Habeel recently capped a memorable 2013 season. Habeel shot a two-round, 170 at the Publix Doral Junior Golf Classic in Miami, Fla.
Playing on the Jim McLean Signature Course, Habeel, a Conyers native who attends Edwards Middle School, shot an 84 in round one and followed that with an 86 in her second round to finish the prestigious youth tournament tied for 20th place with Spain’s Elena Pany, just one stroke back of 19th-place Phoebe Beber-Frankel of Miami, Fla.
In 2013, Habeel won 13 tournaments, including Atlanta Junior Golf, PGA Junior Tour, US Kids and the Junior PGA tour Georgia Section. Habeel was also co-player of the year for the PGA Junior Summer Series Tour and was declared overall champion and player of the year for the US Kids Spring Tour in Atlanta.
To cap a fantastic season, Habeel was named to the all-Atlanta Junior Golf team for the second consecutive year.
