It was another memorable season for the Heritage softball team and there were plenty of Patriots on the Citizen’s all-area first team to commemorate the year.
Heritage, which won the program’s first region championship since 2001, placed five players on the first team, while Salem and Rockdale had two each.
Kierra Camp, senior pitcher, Heritage. Camp, a Georgia Southern signee, was a first-team all-state honoree for the second consecutive season after having an 0.52 ERA on the mound and a .404 batting average at the plate for the Region 8-AAAAA champions.
Carri Wilkerson, senior outfielder, Heritage. Another all-state performer, Wilkerson was named the Region 8-AAAAA player of the year following a .452 batting average, 35-RBI season.
India Davis, senior shortstop, Rockdale. Davis finished a fine high school career with a .556 batting average and .666 on-base percentage, leading the Bulldogs to the Class AAAAAA state playoffs.
Kelsey Stewart, junior first baseman, Rockdale. Hit .444 with a .611 slugging percentage.
Diamond Callwood, senior shortstop, Heritage. King University signee hit .415 with 36 stolen bases.
Taylor Moser, senior first baseman, Heritage. A .428 hitter with 21 RBIs.
Kamryn Toney, sophomore pitcher/infielder, Heritage. The right-hander went 11-1 with an 0.31 ERA while chipping in with a .309 batting average.
Peyton Mitchell, junior catcher, Salem. Hit .391 with four home runs and a .472 on-base percentage.
Kennedy Lester, freshman infielder, Salem. Led the Seminoles in batting average (.500) and on-base percentage (.610).
Caitlin Ray, sophomore infielder, Eastside. Had a 2.66 ERA on the mound and a .484 on-base percentage and .393 average with 20 RBIs at the plate for the Eagles.
Whitney Lester, senior pitcher/infielder, Salem. Second team all-Region 8-AAAAA selection hit .380 with a .466 on-base percentage at the plate and compiled a 3.03 ERA on the mound.
Kalia Johnson, sophomore pitcher/infielder, Alcovy. Went 21-7 on the mound and hit .386, helping the Tigers reach the second round of the Class AAAAAA state playoffs.
Addy Allegretti, freshman second baseman, Heritage. Rising star hit .355 with 29 stolen bases and excellent infield defense for Patriots.
Sydney Driver, freshman infielder/pitcher, Rockdale. Hit .370 with a .500 on-base percentage and a team-high 23 RBIs.
Morgan Beshears, senior catcher, Alcovy. Defensive stalwart behind the plate finished with a .294 batting average.
Mariah Briney, freshman first baseman, Salem. Hit .320 with a .346 on-base percentage and was named second team all-Region 8-AAAAA.
Madison Hopper, junior infielder/outfielder, Eastside. Had a .390 on-base percentage with a team-high 22 RBIs in leading the Eagles to the second round of the Class AAAA state playoffs.
Brittany Medlin, sophomore infielder, Eastside. Had a .383 on-base percentage and 17 stolen bases.
Heidi Shepherd, senior catcher, Heritage. Hit. 323 with 17 RBIs.
LaKaitlen Barney, junior outfielder, Heritage. Stole 19 bases and was named second team all-Region 8-AAAAA.
