COVINGTON — The Dramatic Arts Production Theater in Covington brings to life the classic Charles Dickens story of a grumpy, aging man who despises Christmas.

“A Christmas Carol” will be performed at the theater, 2125 Pace St., Suite A, at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20; 7 p.m Saturday, Dec. 21 and at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22.

The play marks the second year Joseph Hickok takes on the role of Bob Cratchit – Ebenezer Scrooge’s clerk.

“It’s just a great experience to take on that character. I continue to learn bits and pieces about the book and play,” Hickok said. “When I first saw the casting call sign, I thought it would be a great opportunity to put on a good show and make people happy.”

Stage manager Ashley Ulmer joined the theater over the summer and it’s her first time running what goes on behind the scenes for “A Christmas Carol.”

“I enjoy working with the actors and not having to be on stage,” Ulmer said. “The play is all about an older man nearing death who shunned everyone his entire life. When he’s moving toward death, he realizes how wrong he’s been and changes his ways to save himself and others.”

Over the past seven years, Dramatic Arts Productions Theatre Group has produced more than 60 stage plays and opened the Covington theater in August 2012. D.A.P is in partnership with a 20-year-old company, ACN Inc., owned by Donald Trump. For more information go to www.daptheater.acnrep.com.
