The Heritage basketball teams split a pair of road games with Gainesville Tuesday.
The boy’s won a shootout in the nightcap, slipping by the Red Elephants 91-87, thanks to 20 points from Andre Harris. Heritage, which improved to 7-1 and 3-1 in Region 8-AAAAA, also got 18 points from Bryon Abrams and 14 each from Rashad Jones and Isaiah Banks.
“Tough win on the road. Gainesville has a great crowd and definitely epitomizes the idea of home court advantage,” said Heritage first-year coach Vernon Denmark. “They shoot the ball extremely well, but we also made some big shots in the fourth quarter. It was good win for us to try to keep pace with Clarke Central in the region.”
The Heritage continued to struggle, losing 59-16 in the first game of the night. Damali Thomas led the Patriots (0-8, 0-4 Region 8-AAAAA) with eight points.
