CONYERS — The heavy presence of deputies in the Salem Road area is credited for the quick apprehension of two robbery suspects Tuesday night. A third suspect is still at large.
Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded around 7 p.m. to an armed robbery call on Fieldstone View Lane, located off Salem Road. The victim advised dispatchers that he had traveled from Ellenwood to a residence on Fieldstone View Lane to sell an Xbox video game system after arranging the deal through a social media website, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office. When the victim arrived at the residence, a group of suspects jumped him and stole the video game system, the RCSO stated.
Within 30 minutes of the robbery, deputies located two suspects matching the descriptions and transported them to the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office to be interviewed, where they were then arrested and charged in connection with the robbery, the release states.
The two suspects are a 15-year-old male and 17-year-old Brian Jose Arciles, of 2226 Fieldstone View Lane. Arciles was charged with robbery and the juvenile has been charged with robbery and battery. An unidentified black male was named as a third suspect in the robbery.
“I want to commend deputies for their quick response and apprehension of the two suspects,” said Sheriff Eric Levett. “With the large presence of deputies already in the Salem Road area due to the ongoing task force, we were able to quickly swarm the area of the robbery and arrest the two suspects. We understand that our task force efforts will not stop crime altogether, but it did allow us to quickly respond and locate the suspects due to the high concentration of deputies in the area.”
On Nov. 25, the Sheriff’s Office’s began increasing enforcement of the Salem Road area for the holiday season. That area has consistently been a high-crime area. The RCSO is partnering with other local and state law enforcement agencies, including the Conyers Police Department, Georgia State Patrol and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, to perform concentrated enforcement efforts, road checks and other proactive activities.
Anyone with further information about this robbery and/or the identity of the third suspect is asked to contact the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office at 770-278-8000.
