COVINGTON — Two companies have already pitched in to help with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office 15th Annual Toy Run.
ESG Operations Inc. has donated $200 toward the run and Sellars Motors has donated a 2003 Ford Ranger Extended Cab 4x4 that will be raffled for $10 a ticket.
“We are extremely proud to assist with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office 2013 Toy Run and help out a friend,” said Paul Tickerhoof with ESG Operations when he presented the check to Sheriff Ezell Brown recently.
The 15th Annual Toy Run will be held Saturday, Dec. 14, with the registration at 9 a.m. and the ride at 10:30 a.m. The ride benefits needy families referred through the Salvation Army.
Riders will meet at the Kmart shopping center on the corner of U.S. Highway 278 and Turner Lake Road, ride for about an hour and end at the Church at Covington, 11975 Ga. Highway 142 in Oxford.
The Newton County Sheriff’s Office ride attracts between 150 and 200 riders. Cost is a cash donation of $20 or one unwrapped toy per bike. There is no charge for passengers and riders receive one free T-shirt per entry.
The Newton County Sheriff’s Office will escort the ride and at the ending location, at the Church at Covington, participants can join in a 50/50 raffle and have their picture taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus for a donation.
