COVINGTON — State Rep. Pam Dickerson, D-113, is hosting a Family Fun Day event for residents of Newton County from noon to 3 p.m. at Trailblazer Park on Clark Street in Covington.
Dickerson will be joined by Congressman Hank Johnson, D-GA, State Sen. Ronald Ramsey, a Democrat representing the 43rd District, and Newton County Sheriff Ezell Brown.
The event will include free food, music, door prizes and face painting. Dickerson said the event will be a “good, old-fashioned picnic” and is designed as a casual way for representatives and their constituents to get to know one another.
She held a similar event last year at Denny Dobbs Park. Dickerson said she hosted a town hall meeting earlier this year, but this event will be aimed more toward families.
“Sometimes people have different perspectives of talking with representatives when it’s informal … they feel more comfortable when they see you in a casual atmosphere, so they are casual as well,” Dickerson said.
“Everyone is welcome. We want as many people as can possibly come out to come out,” she said.
