Farah, Thelma and Louise are looking for new homes

This Pug has been named Farah and what a bundle of love and wiggles she is. She is probably around 5 years old and would love to make someone’s life complete. No word on whether she snores, but she would be worth the earplugs. She’s very friendly and would do best with adults or a family with older children. She’s had shots and been wormed and can’t wait to find her new home. She can be rescued and adopted at Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals. The shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514. Anyone who has lost a pet is urged to go to the center and bring a photo of the missing animal.

Thelma and Louise are a dangerous duo just like their namesakes because you’re liable to fall head over heels in love with them. The two sisters, Shih Tzu/Terrier-mixes, weigh between 12 and 15 pounds and can’t wait to get to their new home. They’d love to stay together and both can be adopted by a Rockdale resident for $42 or $47 for out of county residents. They’re up-to-date on shots and ready for their new lives. They can be rescued and adopted at Rockdale County Animal Care and Control Shelter at 1506 Rockbridge Road in Conyers. At the Rockdale shelter adoption fees for dogs are $30 and $20 for cats. Spaying or neutering is required for adoption. The shelter is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. The phone number is 770-278-8403.

Questions to ask before adopting a pet:

• Can I make a long-term commitment to this pet?

• Will I be able to spend enough time with a new pet?

• Am I prepared for the cost a new pet will bring?

• Which pet is right for my home and my family?
