“Guess some folks on Floyd Street think those bicycle lanes ain’t part of the road and it is still OK to put their yard debris there. Or maybe they think that laws and regulations are just mere suggestions like red lights, stop and yield signs, speed limit signs, etc.”

“Keith Dalton appears to be on the fast track to sainthood, but doing good deeds does not give him license to ignore city codes.”

“Why the Board of Commissioners wanted to raise the property tax. After reading today’s Newton Citizen, Commissioner Ellis and the rest that voted to increase the property tax wanted to give themselves a pay raise. I can’t wait until it’s my time to vote!”

Editor's Note: Chairman Keith Ellis only votes in case of a tie. Ellis did not vote on the millage rate. Ellis presented two options to the board to keep the millage rate the same, but failed to get support for those options from the majority.

“New York voters are sick people. Fifty-nine percent of them think Weiner deserves another chance? Give me a break! The city of New York obviously has no morals or values. What a great message to send to their youth. Heaven help them, because they will need it. No wonder God has turned His back on our nation. We are quickly becoming the second Sodom and Gomorrah and believers in God know what He did to them.”

“Eric Hernandez — Hispanic — man he killed — black. Where is the outrage from the black communities? He is a former NFL star so he is given a pass. These wonderful athletes that our youth look up to as role models have been charged in the past with rape, spousal abuse, assaults, DUI, running a dog fighting ring and yes, even first degree murder. The majority of them were either put on probation or given very light sentences. The average person on the street would not have been so lucky. No wonder the youth of today have no values or morals. They see notoriety brings not having to pay for what you do in this world. Their parents are also dropping the ball. They have no one to blame but themselves. Wake up America — our youth are our future!”

“Why is the Newton Career Academy hiring so many new people and admins when the enrollment is so low. Is this academy being led by the right people? …”

“Can we have at least one white counselor at Alcovy High School? I mean every decent kid is leaving this school. Why would the school system and board allow this when we are not 100 percent black, but our counselors are 100 percent black? This would never be allowed to be 100 percent white, so why is this happening at Alcovy High School and why is no one doing anything about it?”
