Porterdale Citizen Police Academy holds first graduation

The Porterdale Citizen Police Academy recently held it’s first graduation. Graduates shown here are (l-r) Michele Benton, Holly Cripps, Donte Collier, Jason Cowan, Kelly Canoles, Robert Canoles and Megan Reid. The students explored all areas of policing under department instructors Chief Geoffrey Jacobs, Lt. Jason Cripps and others. They also participated in a mock trial, toured the Covington/Newton County 911 Center and participated in a ride-along. The next class will begin Aug. 8 and will run 10 weeks each Thursday night from 6-9 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church. Applications can be picked up at the Porterdale Police Department or City Hall.
