Mopsy, Ebony are just waiting to be picked up

Underneath all this hair is a sweet little puppy that has been aptly named Mopsy. She looks to be all Shih Tzu and does her Chinese ancestry proud. She's a mix of buff and white and is only 5 to 6 months old. Considered to be hypoallergenic, the breed is known for it's gentleness and love of luxury. She wants nothing more than to snuggle in with an owner who loves her. She'll weigh between 12 and 15 pounds when grown and will require vigilant grooming, but her beauty will be worth the effort. She's had her first shots and been wormed. She can be rescued and adopted at Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals. The shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514. Anyone who has lost a pet is urged to go to the center and bring a photo of the missing animal.

Ebony the kitty is fully grown and knows how to become the mistress of her domain. She's approximately 2 years old and weighs between 8 and 10 pounds. She's looking for a good lap where she can sit and purr. She's in hopes of getting out of confinement at the shelter soon, although nothing seems to bother her and she remains calm when all around her are losing their cool. She's had her first shots and will require spaying. She can be rescued and adopted at Rockdale County Animal Care and Control Shelter at 1506 Rockbridge Road in Conyers. At the Rockdale shelter adoption fees for dogs are $30 and $20 for cats. Spaying or neutering is required for adoption. The shelter is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. The phone number is 770-278-8403.
