Golden State Foods, one of the largest diversified food processors and distributors in the U.S., recently announced that the Conyers facility, located at 1525 Old Covington Road, is the winner of its 2012 Chairman's Challenge award.
The annual award, which is the highest honor given by GSF, recognizes outstanding facility achievement in safety, customer service, employee satisfaction, plant efficiencies, profitability and innovation -- the all-around GSF facility leader for a given year. It's the second year in a row the Conyers facility has won the award.
"This incredible accomplishment is the first time in the award's history that a facility has earned the award two years back-to-back," said Mark Wetterau, chairman and CEO of Golden State Foods, in a press release. "They have set a new standard above and beyond their achievement in 2011 and serve as an inspiration to all of GSF's facilities."
Conyers facility leaders Wayne Morgan, corporate vice president and president of the meat group, and Brian Dick, corporate vice president and president of liquid products, North America, accepted the award on behalf of the Conyers team at a recent GSF Partners' meeting.
"Winning this award is really a testament to the hard work of all the Conyers associates over the last five years," Morgan said in the release. "I'm proud of all of our team members and look forward to many more years of top performance out of the Conyers facility."
The Conyers facility was also awarded the Best in Class Food Processing award for its meat division.
"Every single associate in Conyers has contributed to the success of the entire team, and I congratulate them on this wonderful achievement," Dick said in the release.
