Students, community launch balloons for former student

Hundreds of students, families and other community members recently participated in an annual Kate Caruso Light the Way balloon launch at Heritage High School. They launched glow balloons in memory of Kate Caruso, who died at age 25 in March 2011 of a rare form of cancer. She had attended HHS and later graduated from the University of Georgia; she also taught at Young Americans Christian School. The event featured a performance by the school's drama department. Also, five students who have received the Kate Caruso Light the Way Scholarship over the last few years were present. Those interested can donate to the cause at www.katecarusoLTW.org
