CONYERS -- If you're searching for the perfect Mother's Day gift and would like to help others as well, the folks from Phoenix Pass have just the ticket.
They're planning a Sunday afternoon "Tea Party to End All Tea Parties," which includes a silent auction, at the newly refurbished antebellum Twelve Oaks Bed and Breakfast in Covington.
The event will be held Sunday afternoon, May 12, from 2 to 4 p.m. at 2176 Monticello St.
Organizers say there will be more than 100 items available for the silent auction throughout the home, which is said to have served as the inspiration for Margaret Mitchell's Twelve Oaks in "Gone with the Wind."
The tea will feature finger sandwiches, scones, pastries, strawberries and more.
Tickets are on sale for $15 each through Friday, but there is limited availability. Call 770-760-1020 to purchase.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Phoenix Pass, a transitional housing program in Conyers for women and children experiencing homelessness. The focus of Phoenix Pass is to empower clients with supportive services and the resources to build productive, stable lifestyle for themselves and their families.
A photographer will be on hand to take individual portrait photos.
"I think it will be a lovely way to spend an afternoon," said Phoenix Pass Fundraising Committee Chair Angie Tracey.
