Scouts donate food to Newton food pantry

Newton County Girl Scout Daisy Troop #27543 went shopping on Tuesday, but not for themselves. Instead they shopped for the Newton County Community Food Pantry. The girls decided that they would buy food for the pantry as a community service project. They used profits from their cookie sales held earlier this year. They were able to buy two shopping carts of food for the pantry, including flour, sugar, and a large assortment of canned foods. "They thought this would be a great way to give back to the community." said Troop Leader Shannon Stanley. The Troop is led by Stanley and Co-leader Jean O'Kelley. Pictured here are (back, l-r) Gabby Calhoun, Aubrey Hicks, Sammie Sherwood, Carmen Ruiz and Valerie Harper. In front are Karly Mitcham, Taryn Stanley, Evie O'Kelley.- Special photo
