Amanda Davis, a news anchor with Fox 5 Atlanta for 26 years, has retired.

Davis made the announcement during the broadcast Thursday night. She has been off the air since a DUI arrest last year.

"There have been awards, honors and accolades. There have also been challenges, disappointments and stumbles," Davis said during her message.

Davis was arrested on Nov. 11 in Atlanta on suspicion of drunken driving after authorities say she caused a wrong-way crash on a city street.

According to media reports, her case has not gone before a judge. It was recently moved from Atlanta Municipal Court to Fulton County State Court.

"With God's help, I made it through — and that's what I want you to know. I am blessed," she said. "So it's with a heavy heart that I announce now that I am officially retiring from Fox 5 as I look ahead to a new chapter in my life."
