Striders headed for district finals

The Southeast Striders track and field club qualified 10 athletes for the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association District Track and Field Championships April 20 at Monroe Area High School.

The Striders, based out of Covington, will be led by 13-year-old Jallah Galimah, who will compete in the 800- and 1600-meter runs. Galimah has won multiple GRPA Hershey district, state and national titles and has achieved a top time of two minutes, 12.97 seconds in the 800 and 4:55.90 in the 1,600.

Galimah will be joined by eight teammates, including 11-year-old Aliyah Williams, who will compete in the 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters and standing long jump.
