NCSS seeks input on school improvement plan

COVINGTON -- The Newton County School System is asking parents to review and provide feedback on school improvement plans.

Parents are asked to review the CLIP, or the Comprehensive LEA Improvement Plan, which contain 31 indicators with descriptors.

The CLIP is required annually by the Georgia Department of Education. The plan describes actions used for all federally and state-funded programs to sustain and support student achievement. It also delineates the school system's efforts to plan and implement educational opportunities that close achievement gaps, while ensuring that all students meet the Georgia Performance Standards, according to the plan.

Documents are available for download on the NCSS website at www.newtoncountyschools.org.

Any suggestions and/or comments should be submitted by May 15 to the Office of Federal Programs at NCSS. Dr. Shelia Thomas, director of Federal Programs, is available at Thomas.shelia@newton.k12.ga.us or 770-787-1330, ext. 1250; or Cristina Franklin, Parent Involvement Coordinator, at Franklin.cristina@newton.k12.ga.us or 770-787-1330, ext. 1228.

Here is my input right here. Listen to Mr. Meadors and learn to say no to new spending requests. Hire Sam Fuhrey to run the system. Eliminate as many jobs as you can through attrition and resignations like the Carpenter one at the central office - not needed as Barr does all the work. Ask each principal to identify 2 people he/she can do without and make it happen. Get math achievement up to snuff please. Bring Ken Proctor back to do school improvement.

Go around and ask all staff to give you a description of their jobs. If they can't give you a full days work- fire them.
