Banks to take over Rams football

COVINGTON -- The Newton football team has a leader in former Duluth football coach Terrance Banks, although school officials will not officially say Banks is the head until they get approval from the school board.

If Banks does get the consent of the board, this will be his first varsity head coaching venture after spending time and building his experience at Duluth, Berkmar, Lakeside and Dunwoody.

Banks, a 1998 Lakeside graduate, started his high school coaching career at Dunwoody in 2004 where he was a linebacker coach and the junior varsity head football coach. After going to his alma mater to become its co-defensive coordinator, Banks headed to Berkmar, where he gained valuable offensive coaching experience as the receivers coach for the Patriots.

While at Duluth, Banks was the receivers coach and the passing-game coordinator for the Wildcats football team. He also doubled as the head coach for the junior varsity team.
