OXFORD -- Providence Christian School is expanding again.

The school, which opened in August 2005, recently opened a new building that will serve its middle and high school students.

After originally opening in a smaller space, the school moved to its current Byrd Road campus in Oxford in October 2005. It sits on 67 acres at Crosspointe Church.

Now, the Newton County Chamber of Commerce has cut the ribbon on a new addition to the school. It has opened a second building near its original one.

"The new building is a wonderful blessing to us here at Providence. We are growing at a steady rate, which is a rich blessing with the economy in its current state of affairs," said school Headmaster Ty Hensley.

He said the new building should be able to house its Upper School, which is grades six through 12, for the next few years.

The school's younger students will stay in the original building, allowing for separation between the two groups, he added.

"We love our campus here at Crosspointe Church and believe God will continue to grow and further this vision here at Providence to fully use all 67 acres of beautiful wooded property," he said.

The school has had full accreditation from the Georgia Accreditation Commission since October 2007. The school also is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International and The Association of Classical & Christian Schools.

The school offers a college preparatory education in prekindergarten through 12th grade to the Newton, Rockdale and Walton communities. It offers Bible studies, arts courses and physical education, as well athletics like golf, soccer, tennis and swimming.

Piedmont Academy just earned accreditation. Woodlee's is advertising all over. Peachtree Christian is growing. Providence is growing. I say awesome news please continue to grow and take over our public system that wastes money, hires bad, offers a SPLOST with completely false language about an urgent necessity for a new high school after doing a "canvas" and just wait you people if they hire a new superintendent with less credentials than Matthews you investigate and you will find there is one thing that matters to most of these board members and it is not quality or strong leadership. It is the reason we are in this mess.
