DANIELSVILLE -- Eastside running back Alex Smith helped bring the Eagles back to form scoring three second-quarter touchdowns to help give the Eagles a 42-14 win at Madison County on Friday.
Smith gave the Eagles (3-2 overall, 1-1 Region 8-AAAA) a first-and-goal from the 1-yard line after taking the ball 51 yards on a short throw by quarterback Damario Terrell. Smith finished what he started giving Eastside the 7-0 lead.
The Eastside running back also caught a touchdown while returning a 55-yard punt return accounting for 21 of the Eagles' 28 second-quarter points. Smith finished the first half with 43 rushing yards on nine carries along with three receptions for 116 yards.
Madison County (0-5, 0-2) scored two touchdowns in the second half but Eastside responded with two touchdowns of its keeping the 28-point advantage.
Terrell ended the night going 9-for-18 for 167 yards and two touchdowns. He also averaged just over 10 yards per carry gaining 31 yards on three carries while scoring a touchdown.
