Two arrested in murder of Newton man

CONYERS -- Two men suspected in the murder of a Newton County man in July have been arrested by the Atlanta Police Department.

Andrew Valentino Wilson, 44, and Edgar Allen Hubbard, 40, were arrested Sept. 27 by the APD Fugitive Unit officers. Each man is charged with murder and arson in the first degree. Both were taken to the Fulton County Jail.

Wilson and Hubbard are charged in connection with the murder of Gregory Vernon Harris, 49, of 185 Bridges Way, Covington.

Harris had been reported missing by his family after his sister could not reach him by phone and then found things out of place at his home.

On July 14, Atlanta Fire Rescue was called to a house fire at 860 Westmount Road in southwest Atlanta, according to the APD. When firefighters arrived they found that the fire was actually a car that was fully engulfed in flames. When the fire was extinguished a body was found inside the trunk.

The body was identified as Harris through the use of dental records.

Carlos Campos, spokesman for the APD, said details of how police connected Harris with the suspects could not be released.
