Newton County Senior Services member Lillie Wright gets her flu shot from registered nurse Misty Jackson from the Newton County Health Department. Seniors at the Turner Lake Complex were offered the opportunity Tuesday to get their flu shots while attending senior events. Wright, who has said she has been getting her flu shots for at least 15 years, is a regular walker at the Turner Lake Complex and is appreciative of the convenience of having the shots available at the senior center. This year high-dose vaccines are available for those 65 or older as experts warn that immune systems weaken with age. Flu shots will again be available from 10 a.m. to noon on Oct. 26 at Turner Lake Complex during the October Expo and flu shots are currently available for anyone 6 months or older at the Newton County Health Department. The fee is $25. - Staff photo by Sue Ann Kuhn-Smith
