Grady wins second meet

ATHENS -- Newton cross country runner Alex Grady won his second meet of the season taking the top spot with a time of 17 minutes, 15 seconds in a seven-team meet at Athens Academy on Thursday.

Even with his first place finish, it wasn't enough for the team standings as Newton finished in second place with 45 points. North Oconee took the team win with 40 points.

Finishing behind Grady for Newton were Shemar Ronnie (sixth place -- 19:06), Kemeron Wallace (10 -- 19:49), Sean Wallace (12 -- 19:56) and Jose Rivera (16 -- 20:41). Running but not scoring for Newton were Randolph (26 -- 21:50) and Alex Walker (31 -- 22:41).

Finishing third in team score was Athens Academy (66 points), George Walton Academy (88), Cedar Shoals (137), Prince Avenue (155) and Towns Country (184).

Running individually for the girls were Newton's Maya Newton and Bikel Stoghill. Newton came in 25th overall with a time of 28:24 with Stoghill coming in two spots behind at 27 in 29:18.
