Walmart bomb threats hoaxes

CONYERS -- Two area Walmart stores were evacuated Thursday night after employees received bomb threats that turned out to be hoaxes.

According to incident reports, a caller who sounded like a black male called the Walmart stores on Dogwood Drive in Conyers and Industrial Boulevard in Covington. In each case, the caller used profanity and said he would blow up the store if it wasn't evacuated. The Covington store was called at about 8:30 p.m. and the Conyers store was called at about 10:30 p.m.

Both stores were evacuated and police conducted searches but found no explosives.

In other police news, two female roommates both went to jail on drug charges after police were called to their residence to settle a domestic dispute.

When police arrived, one of the roommates was in front of the residence at 1156 Pinedale Circle and was removing items from the residence. Kamila Madison, 33, told police that she and her girlfriend, Heather Draper, 36, had been involved in a verbal dispute, but no violent contact occurred.

Inside the house, police found Draper lying on the bed, crying hysterically. She had a cast on her leg due to a broken foot. Draper said that she and Madison had argued and that Madison had thrown a bag of Frito chips and hit her in the face.

While inside the house, police saw an open silver case in the living room. The case reportedly contained suspected methamphetamine, a lighter, cut straws, a digital scale and pipes for smoking meth.

Madison was placed under arrest. While talking with the police officer, she reportedly said the methamphetamine came from Clayton County but that it had been a while since she or Draper had used any. Draper was also placed under arrest. Both were taken to the Rockdale County Jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine.

Well Newton County hope you enjoy all the "THUG" crime Walmart has brought us! Mr. Hall and the BOC sold this to use as a great new source of jobs!! The new Walmart has only been open for less than 6 month, 3 bomb threats later! Seems only thing Walmart does is attract crime!! Crime+ low wages=WALMART!! Hope everyone realizes this type of behavior does not attract high paying companies that wanna locate to Newton County!

Lol to bad the Walmart your talking about on (Salem rd.) has had only 1 bomb threat this year and had nothing to with this situation . While the other one on (Industrial Boulevard) has had 2 . And the other Walmart they were referring to was in Conyers on (dogwood drive). #ImJustSaying

WalMart on Salem Rd may have only had one bomb threat but find out how many cars have been broken onto and how many shoplifters have been caught. Not to mention the other types of crimes that have happened there. Im just waiting for the parking lot robberies to start. Guess I better start carrying my gun with me to go shopping.

I am sorry I was mistaken with my comment. But in large all WalMart has brought is crime!!! Have they come to our local NCSO to discuss a plan with our Sheriff? NO! They are dystroying our community! Thanks frustraded for supporting my views. Lol I saw a man carry a pistol into the Covington Walmart Sunday! AHSclassof2012 1 bomb threat is 1 too many. You may have attended a school with out of control administration who ignore crime, but in the REAL WORLD a bomb is a real scare. Should our leaders not contact Homeland Security? Could this be a terrorist plot?

I understand your concerns and what not about walmart but crime is bond to happen anywhere . Maybe if people are so concerned they should ask for a officer there patrolling like they had a the kroger on salem rd. when I 1st moved out here a couple of years ago. And as far as alcovy well it was just like newton high before i got rezoned to alcovy and newton got there principal. I never really saw anything wrong with it or the atmosphere i mean kids fight everyday and ect. across the country at high schools its life everybody doesn't and wont like each other at some point of time ..and the administration was quite strict the 2 years i was there just those certain kids that could mess up and reps. And its funny you mention that about a terror plot and if are homeland security should be contacted. But i doubt that its any of that but then again who knows the days we are living make people do crazy things for attention of all sorts smh .

its up to the individual store to have security. if they dont want to pay for it, it wont happen. Its all about the dollars.

HAHA! You would be suprised, these crazy people are everywhere! They can be you neighbors, friends, store owners, doctors, lawyers. All I am saying is that we need to have Homeland Security look into this matter. I think that WalMart owes it to the community to respond with some type of action plan that involes our local law enforcement and this gets stopped!! Maybe this person thinks a bomb threat is funny, but when the FED gets involved it tends to stop quickly!

And you are very true on this that 1st but the people we call are government should have tabs on them since we lost all are privacy right via 9/11 .

Dont hold your breath if you think Wal-Mart is going to do anything about this. If it costs them money they wont do it.

AHSClassof2012 I am glad someone is learning about how government works at school. You need to understand one thing our local govenment be it the BOC or BOE it does not matter! People dont matter to politicians its the bottom dollar!!! WalMart was sold to us as a great economic industry in Newton County and there are some people who made a lot of money off the deal that built our new WalMart.
