Tyler Austin is headed to Trenton. The former Heritage stand out, now a part of the New York Yankees organization, was promoted to the Double-AA Trenton Thunder Saturday.
Austin, an outfielder who turns 21 September 6, hit .321 (43-for-134) with 23 RBIs and a .385 on-base percentage in 36 games for Single-A Tampa of the Florida State League.
In 108 games in 2012 with Tampa, Single-A Charleston of the South Atlantic League and the Gulf Coast League Yankees, Austin, a 13th round (415th overall) selection in the 2010 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, has hit .323 (131-for-406) with 17 home runs and 79 RBIs, while compiling a .401 on-base percentage.
Trenton continues its series at Binghamton with games Sunday at 6:35 p.m. and Monday at 1:05 p.m.
