Students in Elizabeth Davis' English/language arts class at Piedmont Academy recently read the novel, "The Last Dog on Earth" by Daniel Ehrenhaft. As part of their assessment, students picked a particular breed of dog, researched characteristics and grooming tips and produced a visual representation of their dog. Fifteen Piedmont staff members served as distinguished judges and awarded certificates in the following categories: Best of Show, Honorable Mention, Most Creative and Most Realistic. Pictured with their dog, from left, are (front row) Madison Burnham chow; Morgan Johnston toy poodle; Ashley Johnston yorkie; Cheyenne Miller kelpie; (back row) Haley Edwards shih tzu; Will Mack Tillman daschund; Joseph Anderson - Jack Russell terrier; Michael Edwards rottweiler; Wyatt Galloway - husky; Davis; Tyler Mills black labrador; and Mack Brady basset hound.
