CONYERS -- Three people were arrested Wednesday morning after shots were fired from their car at two men and a woman in another car on Broad Street in Milstead.

Rockdale County Sheriff's Office Investigator Michael Camp said it appeared the shots were fired as a result of some aggressive driving that took place in the area of Broad Street and Main Street in Milstead.

According to a report from the RCSO, the two male victims picked up a female friend from an area Waffle House where she worked at about 7:30 a.m. The three were on Broad Street, on the way to the residence of one of the men on Spring Street, when shots were fired at them from a dark-colored passenger car. As the three arrived at the residence on Spring Street, the other car pulled close to the driveway and two more shots were fired from the car in the direction of the house.

According to the female victim, the driver of their car drove into the back yard of the house to avoid being hit by the gunfire.

The suspects' car, described as a gray Ford Fusion, was found parked at a house at 1757 New Street. Camp said the three suspects were found hiding in a closet that was built on the front porch of the house. He said the suspects had tossed the 9 mm handgun used in the shootings and the keys to the car. A search warrant was obtained and the gun was found next to the porch.

The suspects were identified as Darren Ray Waddell, 29, 142 Pitts Chapel Road, Newborn; Christopher John Thomas, 34, 2337 Leafway Trail, Conyers; and Kasie Lynn Arrant, 35, 468 Twin Bridges Road, Eatonton.

Camp said Waddell was identified as both the shooter and the driver of the suspects' car. He was charged with reckless conduct, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and aggravated assault.

Approximately 3.6 grams of methamphetamine was found on Thomas, Camp said, and he was charged with possession of methamphetamine.

Arrant had an outstanding warrant from Eatonton, Camp said. She was wanted for probation violation on an original charge of aggravated assault.
