On behalf of the Covington Pilot Club I would like to commend United Bank for their efforts to make their customers aware of the desperate need for food at the local food bank and for their generosity in collecting and donating food to the food bank.
The food pantry's supplies have been depleted in recent weeks. At a recent Chamber Coffee Call meeting, Bernice Bailey of the Covington Pilot Club asked the businesses represented to help raise awareness of the plight of the food bank and to donate food. Mrs. Bailey volunteers at the food bank each week, so she is well-qualified to speak of the food bank's needs.
The Pilot Club urges other businesses and civic organizations to step up and help the food bank during this time of severe shortage.
