Even though it was ugly and below expectations, Newton’s football team improved to 2-0 in Region 2-AAAAAA play with its 19-3 win over Druid Hills on Friday at Adams Stadium.
The Rams (2-4, 2-0) started the game scoring on an 80-yard drive and never looked back. Even though the defense held Druid Hills (2-4, 0-2) to three points, Newton head coach Cortez Allen was not completely pleased with the way they played.
“We played well defensively but we kept giving them the third and 15 too many times,” Allen said. “It was basically on big plays when they got to our secondary. Their quarterback scrambled around and got away from the rush. Those had to cover for more than four or five seconds.”
