I applaud loudly our mayor's efforts to help the homeless shelter pay its utility bill. This county has gone above and beyond with former Mayor Sam Ramsey largely responsible for the shelter's present location. And the Housing Authority's generosity in reducing drastically the rent that was initially agreed upon.
But where are the other four counties that send their homeless here? It is shameful that our neighbors feel no need to step up and help out. The churches that largely support the shelter ... are they all in Newton County as well?

I think someone should try and get the Atlanta TV stations involved about this very point of other counties sending their homeless but no monies for aide.

I understand what is being said about our limited resources! Also why was a million dollar grant obtained and expansion created without the idea that maybe funding my not continue to roll in. I am not saying its a bad idea to have a homeless shelter but maybe the million dollar renovation was not the way to go!
