The Newton County Sheriff's Office provides School Resource Officers to each high school and middle school in Newton County. The following is a list of reports filed by these officers that have been received this week by the Newton Citizen:
NEWTON HIGH
-- On Sept. 19, the school resource officer reported a teacher told him an electronic device had been stolen from a classroom. The device was valued at $80.
ALCOVY HIGH
-- On Sept. 20, while at a volleyball game at Alcovy High School, a Newton High student reported that her purse which contained her iPhone was stolen. Following up at the game, the school resource officer recovered two stolen iPhones and a handbag from two AHS students. Garnett Silk Brown of 55 Dove Landing was charged with theft by taking and a juvenile student was charged with theft by receiving.
-- On Oct. 2, a school resource officer received word two students were fighting in the hall. He observed a 15-year-old student repeatedly pummel a 14-year-old student. The 14-year-old student suffered bumps, bruises and abrasions, and when family transported him to the hospital, it was discovered he suffered a broken nose. The 15-year-old was charged with aggravated battery, disruption of operation of a public school and disorderly conduct. He was turned over to Juvenile Court authorities.

LaQuanda Carpenter is in over her head. Pot bust from a high school dealer just yesterday SACS save our school we are all tryin like mad to send resumes outta here! Our Supe is not helpful.
