COVINGTON -- The Covington Police Department is looking for a man who robbed the clerk at the Washington Street Package Store at gunpoint in the early morning hours Tuesday.
According to a CPD incident report, officers were called to the store at 8107 Washington St. around 1 a.m.. The victim said he had closed the store and had locked the front door, placing his laptop computer and a bank envelope by the front door. He went into another part of the store to finish closing up for the night when he heard a crash and saw a rock come through the front door.
"A black male dressed in a black hoodie with white writing, black pants, latex gloves, black shoes and pantyhose over his face then pointed a silver pistol through the busted window with his right hand and reached in with his left hand and unlocked the door," the report states.
The victim said the suspect then entered the store and grabbed him and threw him against the counter, causing multiple bottles of alcohol to fall off the counter top.
"The male then reached down and grabbed the computer bag and envelopes. He then went to exit the store and dropped the envelopes and turned back inside to pick up the envelopes," the report states, adding that in doing so he also picked up the victim's keys to the business, his residence and vehicle.
The suspect ran off in the direction of Flat Shoals Road.
The victim said the envelopes contained his night deposit from the business' proceeds that day.
The CPD is asking anyone who may know this suspect or who saw anything that may be related to this incident to call them at 770-786-7605; go to their website at www.covingtonpolice.com; or use the mobile to mobile app called tipsubmit.
