Teen pleads not guilty in DUI crash

COVINGTON -- An Oxford teen pleaded not guilty Tuesday in connection with the January crash on Cook Road that killed a 56-year-old woman.

McKenzie Farrow Crowe, of 843 Cornish Mountain Road, Oxford, was charged with two felony counts of homicide by vehicle in the first degree, two misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence under the age of 21 and one misdemeanor count of failure to maintain lane.

The crash occurred around 2:48 a.m. Jan. 28 near the intersection of Cook and Sockwell roads. Alison Bell of Covington was killed in the accident when Crowe's 2003 Ford Ranger crossed the center line and hit Bell's 2002 Ford Explorer.

Crowe, who was a 17-year-old Eastside High School senior at the time, was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta for treatment following the crash.

In May, Crowe turned herself in to the Newton County Detention Center and was released the same day on $23,000 bond.

Crowe's next court date is scheduled for Dec. 18 for a motion status hearing.
