One of the most common prayers of thankfulness some of us offer up is that of "saying grace", or the blessing, or the giving of thanks before we eat our meals. It has been a joy at times to hear my grandchildren recite such a prayer as the family has prepared to eat together.
In Walker Percy's "The Message in the Bottle" there is an essay titled, "The Man on the Train." The man is a long-time commuter, riding the same train every morning, to the same job he has had for years. The routine has deeply settled him into the realm of ordinariness. He is a man of habit, going through the same routines every day, year after year.
New Life Family Christian Center will celebrate the upcoming holidays in its new home off Salem Road in Covington. The church, which was founded in 2008, has moved from the A.R. I'm ungodly. Before you start gloating over that statement, let me assure you, so are you. Ah, now I have your attention if not your ire. Let me explain my statement in terms we can all agree upon. God is perfect. You and I are not. Therefore, we are in our basic nature unlike God; we are ungodly.
